Post Tenebras Lux

This was one of the battle cries during the Protestant Reformation. Post Tenebras Lux, After darkness, light. The reformers was seeing the true glory of the gospel brought to light after years of darkness due to corruption by the Roman Catholic church.

This is a phrase I love and feel a great connection with. I had lived 37 years in darkness before light was given to me. The light of the gospel was all around me but due to my own corruption I could not see it and had a false assurance that I was saved. Then one day while working everything became clear. I had heard the gospel my entire life. I grew up in church and was attending church.

Sunday school, bible school, sermons every Sunday morning and night, plus Wednesdays. I played drums in the church, took up the offering, went up front and said the prayer. How did it all escape me for 37 years?

My own corruption was what guided my path in a way (I do fully believe in the Sovereignty of God in all things). But on that faithful day when I was at work, Post Tenebras Lux made a world of sense to me.

My own darkness was shown to me and the light of the gospel of Christ made sense to me and I believed. After darkness, light! 37 years of darkness and sin erased and the light of God filled me.

Calvin proclaimed it in Geneva, and I proclaimed it in Sevierville. Post Tenebras Lux! After darkness, light!
