The Reach of the Gospel

I was just scanning through YouTube and ran across a video of a young Indian female singing “In Christ Alone” in her native Tamil language and it immediately made me stop and think. We live in a country that has a church on every corner in many places. A country with “God” on our money. We have so much access to the Bible through different technology that we can sometimes fail to understand the real working of God through the gospel.

Since the very beginning Christ was prophesied. Genesis 3 is the first account of the gospel. Known as the Protoevangelium, protos meaning “first” and evangelion meaning “good news” or “gospel”. Genesis 3:14 begins the first time the good news of Christ was brought to the world.

(Genesis 3:14-15) “The LORD God said to the serpent,
“Because you have done this,
Cursed are you more than all cattle,
And more than every beast of the field;
On your belly you will go,
And dust you will eat
All the days of your life; And I will put enmity
Between you and the woman,
And between your seed and her seed;
He shall bruise you on the head,
And you shall bruise him on the heel.”

This good news, this gospel, has spread from that tiny spot in the garden where Adam and Eve stood guilty. It has spread throughout the world. Many of us here in the south have heard the gospel thousands of times, we know it by heart, we learned it from an early age. But just imagine those is other countries. Countries where Christianity is the small minority and often even a religion that is banned. The gospel still goes out there regardless of governmental mandates or religious persecutions.

Over the years many have tried, but failed to silence this gospel. I have no idea of the young Indian female’s circumstances, what town she lived in, what religion she was mostly accustomed to, or if she felt any persecution for her belief in this gospel. What I do know about her is she heard the gospel, it’s life changing reach stretched to her as it did for me.

The deepest parts of the jungles, the hottest parts of the deserts, and the coldest regions of this earth, the gospel WILL be preached. It cannot be stopped and will continue to bring salvation to the lost from every corner of the world. God has a purpose and He has a people. Those people have a need for Christ, so the gospel goes out. Just think about the difference between me and the tribal elder somewhere in the amazon. The difference is appearance, language, customs, diet, views, ect.. So many differences but we remain the same in this way, we both were born into a fallen world as sinners separated from the Creator. We both have a great need for Christ and can be united as brothers, adopted by God due to the gospel of Jesus.

I’m happy I found the YouTube video. I was blessed to hear the young woman sing of Christ Alone, eventhough I didn’t understand her language, my heart understood. The gospel has made her and i the same, even with a world of differences. One day we will sing together and all will understand one another.

The gospel must go out so I leave you with this.

God became a man in Jesus, lived a perfect life, which we could not do, and died on the cross, thus fulfilling the law himself and taking on himself the punishment for the sins of all those who would ever turn and trust in him. He rose again from the dead, showing that God accepted Christ’s sacrifice and that God’s wrath against us had been exhausted. He now calls us to repent of our sins and to trust in Christ alone for our forgiveness. If we repent of our sins and trust in Christ, we are born again into a new life, an eternal life with God.
“The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
(Mark 1:15)

Dear God I thank you for your gospel. I thank you for what you did for me through your Son Jesus Christ. My prayer is for the gospel to be heard and believed by all those I know foremost. If my family or friends do not know you, please reveal yourself through the gospel so that they may be saved. I also pray for the world, for those that do not know you, that they would hear the gospel and be saved, that your word would bring light to the darkest hearts and give hope to the helpless, just as I once was. Amen.
